Eid Mubarak!

Dear Parents,

Asalaaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our parents an early Eid Mubarak. Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum – May Allah accept all good deeds from us and you. Ameen.
Further, we would also like this letter to act as a reminder for one and all, to make the most of this forthcoming special day, by observing it in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), which we take great pleasure in listing
below:

• – To give the Takbir of Eid from Maghrib, on the last day of Ramadhan until the Eid
  prayer is performed on Eid Day. Men should recite it loudly and women should
  recite it quietly. The Takbirs of Eid is:
  Allahu akbar Allahu akbar laa ilaaha illal laahu wal laahu akbar
  allahu akbar wa lil laahil hamd.
  (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god except Allah, Allah is Most Great, Allah
  is Most Great, and all praise is to Allah)
• – To wake up early, in order to prepare for the sunnahs of the day;
• – To performing ghusl (bath);
• – To brush one’s teeth, using a miswak if possible;
• – To apply perfume (for males);
• – To wear the best clothing one possesses, without excess. White, when available, is optimal;
• – To eat something sweet, preferably an odd number of dates, before going to the Eid al-Fitr prayer (the opposite to Eid al-Adha);
• – To go early to the place where the Eid prayer is taking place, including women;
• – To give the Zakaat al-fitr before the Eid prayer is performed;
• – To return from the Eid prayer by a different route to the one taken there;
• – To walk, when reasonably possible without hardship;
• – To meet and greet family and fellow Muslims with hand shakes, hugs and the du’aa: Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum – (May Allah accept all good deeds from us and you.
  May Allah make us grateful for His bounties and grant us the ability to remember Him more so on this joyous day. Ameen.
